Best Gas Grills that won’t rust
How do you make sure that you find a gas grill that won’t rust? There is really two main things that you can do make sure that your gas grill won’t rust (or at least not in less than a decade): buy a gas grill that is built with stainless steel and buy a good cover.
With the first qualification, it is important to know that not all stainless steel is the same. For marketing purposes, many will claim that they have stainless steel built into their gas grill. The fact is many of what is called stainless steel does rust because it is combined with iron. If you are actually at a store one way to test this is to have place a magnet close to the “stainless steel.” If the magnet doesn’t do anything you have got something of real quality. The fact is as I researched this topic someone on a blog stated it well, not all stainless grills are created equal. There are different grades of stainless steel with percentages of iron and that is what determines its quality.

So how do I pick a quality grill that has the right grade of stainless steel in it? Well, this will depend on your budget. But I am going to assume that most of you are looking at grills that are under $1000 (some are perhaps looking way lower than this – don’t worry I got a couple of suggestions for you as well). There are grills that are quite a bit above the $1000 but we won’t go there on this article.
If you can afford and you are looking for an outstanding gas grill that won’t rust and that will last (as one reviewer put it, a gas grill that is built like a tank) then based on the numerous gas grill reviews I have done I would go for the Weber Genesis S-340. I have an extensive review on this site that you can take a look at if you would like to know more about it.
But in summary, this grill has three stainless steel burners, 7mm diameter stainless steel rod cooking grates and stainless steel flavorizer bars. It’s got stainless steel all over the place. And by the way, those are some pretty thick rod cooking grates that will leave some awesome marks on your meat.
But what it this one is a little beyond your budget? Well, you can’t go wrong with a Weber (for the majority of people of least). Having read hundreds if not thousands of actual reviewers (people who bought Weber grills) I’ve heard the same thing over and over that there Weber gas grills last (many times at least a decade). So if you are tempted to buy a Weber Genesis S-330 but you realize its beyond your budget. Here are some other great Weber gas grills that with proper care such as buying a good cover probably won’t rust in the next decade:
Weber Q1000 Portable Grill
This is a very affordable gas grill. If you are looking for an economical option of a grill that will give you great value and with proper care won’t rust in the near future, this would be a great buy. Even though it is not built with stainless steel, it is built with great quality with its porcelain-enamelled cast-iron cooking grates and cast-aluminium lid you are getting some great materials in it with a great price. It’s for some great reason that the average rating of this grill on Amazon is 4.7 stars, at the time of this writing.
Weber Q 3200 Portable Gas Grill
If you want something in between the two prices and the level of quality (although all Webers are of great quality) between these two I would recommend the Weber Q 3200 Portable Gas Grill. I have also written an extensive review on this gas grill if would like to check it out. This is going to sound like an exaggerated statement but after reading hundreds of customer reviewers, one really caught my attention because he said that he is not the kind of person for giving reviews but that he had to write about this Weber grill because it was the best he had in 35 years of grilling. This grill is similar to the other Weber Q 1000 but you are getting more than double (almost triple) the cooking space, you have an electronic ignition with the Weber Q3200 and of course the stationary cart.
So which of these three you pick really depends on your budget. They are all really good grills that won’t rust at least not in the near future.
